The evening opens with some specially chosen pieces from Jayne’s classical repertoire, a bit of Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, or maybe even some Rachmaninoff or Porkofiev. Then a little social intermission, with some gentle background jazz from her accompanists which include Walt Sayre, Robert Johnson and others. Then Jayne grabs a microphone and you realize that she’s a singer. A rather talented and engaging singer at that. And as with her piano playing, she’s taking the music and putting it inside of you, for you to experience and enjoy in a new way. The songs are familiar – the great American songbook. But the performance is one of a kind.
What fun!
